Dan Myers is a native Kansan and distinguished member ofthe Quincy Art Association, who has the unique distinction of producing award winning art in three different media: drawing (charcoal and pastel), painting (oil), and sculpture (both terracotta and plastilina). He has won numerous awards for his drawings and paintings at the Quincy Art Festival, Marina Bay Boardwalk show, and the Thomas Crane Public Library exhibit (where he won the Best in Show Award in April, 2005 for his drawing, "Not All War Wounds Are Visible") . He has won seven first prizes for sculpture in the Quincy Arts Festival and attributes much of his success in sculpture to his accomplished teachers: Ralph Helmich, Anthony Antonio, Don Gale, Kim Monson, Dan Edwards, and Pablo Eduardo. He is a continuing education student at perhaps the most renowned school of representat ional figure sculpture in the country, Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts , in Old Lyme, Connecticut and has exhibited in their Midsummer and Alumni show. His work is represented in the Crump-McCole Gallery at 200 Seaport Boulevard, Boston, MA in the World Trade Center and the Epiphany Gallery at Nantasket Beach in Hull, MA. He is a member of the National Sculpture Society.

Dan specializes in human figure drawing, painting, and sculpture exclusively. His figures can range from nude athletes, dancers, and allegorical figures to poignant portraits of mother and child. He does commissioned drawings and paintings and sculpture of families from good photographs. His signature style usually combines a famous painting (in miniature) within the context of the larger painting. He has incorporated miniature paintings ofGaugin, Waterhouse, and Klimt in many ofhis figure paintings. Many ofhis figure drawings and paintings are directly related to his sculpture.

Dan's favorite medium is sculpture. He has over ISO pieces of original work in terracotta in his home studio. Recently he has cast four of these works in urethane resin for sale. Two of these are pictured on this website: "Me and My Shadow" and "In Memoriam: 911- 01." Two other sculptures are now available in resin: "Sandalina: a Wee Bonnie Lass" and "Aphrodite's Dream," which can be viewed and purchased on request. In the fall of 2005, Dan offered 8 new figure sculptures for purchase, individually or in sets of 4 as figures in two separate fountains entitled Aphrodite alld the Three Graces (representing drawing, painting, and sculpture) and FOlllltaill o(the Arts (representing Visual Arts, Dance, Music, and Drama). Photos of these magnificently detailed figures are available on request. Tours ofhis studio in Quincy are available with call-ahead reservations.
